Every grinder counts from a different zero point, moves a different distance per click, and cuts with different burrs. "24 clicks" on a Comandante lands around a coarse pour-over; 24 clicks on a Timemore C2 is already French-press territory. So GrindSwap never converts clicks directly.
Instead it uses each grinder's documented range for your brew method, works out where the recipe sits inside that range on the source grinder, and finds the same relative position on yours. You get a starting point, not gospel: burr wear, bean density and roast level all shift the target, so taste and adjust by one click at a time.
Sour, weak, fast-draining brews mean too coarse: go finer (fewer clicks). Bitter, harsh, slow or clogged brews mean too fine: go coarser. Change one variable at a time and give each change a full brew before judging.
Common setting ranges by brew method. Sources: manufacturer guidance and the Honest Coffee Guide grind charts; treat every cell as a starting range.
1Zpresso JX counts 30 clicks per rotation; the numbers here are total clicks from zero. More grinders are being added; the six here are the ones with settings we could verify against at least two sources.
If you're still choosing a grinder, these six are the ones the conversion data above covers — all community favourites with well-documented settings. Links go to Amazon; as an Amazon Associate we may earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you.
